As you go through this list remember that you do not need to use every plugin suggested. If I had anything to add to this checklist it would be to keep your plugins to a minimum and as clean as possible.
There is a growing tendency among WordPress plugin makers to pack a plugin with irrelevant data like advertising or too many options. These eat your website’s load time. I highly recommend using P3 Plugin Performance Profiler during your set up process to check to see how well your plugin do.
Social Media share plugins are the worst! for being bloated. Here my list of Social Media Plugins that are light weight: Social Media Feather or OSD Social Media Sharing
Your theme may have already included items that no longer require plugins. For example iTheme has it’s own Favicon up-loader built in.
There are a few plugins listed you no longer need with some of the WordPress updates:
Eliminate the need for image optimization plugins like TinyPNG or WP Smush it by optimizing your images before you load them to your website.
